Cancellation Policy: TFC requires 24 hours notice for all appointment cancellations or reschedules. Missed appointments and late cancellations will result in a charge of 50% of the scheduled appointment fee. In case of emergency or illness, this policy will not apply. Massage therapy is an ancient form of healing, where a massage therapist uses their hands, forearms, and elbows to manipulate the soft tissues of the body through a variety of massage techniques such as kneading, long flowing effleurage strokes, sustained specific pressure, among others. Massage can help reduce pain and discomfort resulting from a variety of conditions, as well as prevention of many conditions, much like regular exercise. A treatment plan will be developed with the client, to best determine a guide to the client’s wellbeing. Massage is a wonderful healthcare option to integrate into any type of wellness lifestyle.

Osteopathy believes in the body’s innate ability to heal and regulate itself. By manipulating the structures of the body, we can influence their function and communication with other structures.
Removing restrictions of the tissues will facilitate an environment in which the body can improve its condition naturally.
Common reasons to seek osteopathic treatment include: muscle and joint pain, headaches, digestive complaints, acute pain and injuries, and chronic health condition effects.

Dr. Carter completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology at McMaster University (2011), followed by a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (2014). She spent her time away from studying participating in volunteer programs that allowed her to gain valuable experience working with seniors and special needs individuals.

Dr. Carter has taken additional courses including instrument-assisted adjusting, cranial (skull) adjusting, orthotics, posture, ergonomics, radiology, nutrition, and supplementation to better serve her patients. She is trained in a range of techniques to suit your body’s specific needs including ProAdjuster, Activator Method®, Cranial Release Technique®, and Cranial Adjusting Turner Style (C.A.T.S.).

Dr. Carter is a registered chiropractor in Ontario as well as a member of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, the Ontario Chiropractic Association, the Canadian Chiropractic Association, and the Eastern Ontario Chiropractic Society.

Dr. Carter’s personal interests include swimming at the local pool, biking along the Trans-Canada Trail, and spending time with her friends and family. As she grew up in a small-town environment, supporting and promoting local businesses is important to her and TFC.

Alanna Dyer graduated from a three year massage therapy program at Sir Sanford Fleming College in 2015. Alanna is a mom of three little girls and understands how important it is to take care of yourself first. She is happy to accommodate children and babies of all ages to your massage treatments if needed. While Alanna has a passion for prenatal and postnatal treatments, she also treats a variety of conditions. She uses a wide range of techniques including deep tissue, trigger point release, lymphatic drainage, hydrotherapy and of course, relaxation. She believes that Massage Therapy is an effective way to maintain a healthy balance both physically and emotionally. Alanna is excited to be starting a new journey working with the Trillium Family Chiropractic team.

Colleen Matthews joins us as an osteopathic manual practitioner and is a member of Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN).

Colleen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies as well as a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion. After graduating, she put her knowledge to work as a personal trainer, leading group exercise classes and later working with youth and individuals with disabilities at outdoor education facilities.

Colleen was interested in furthering her education and was intrigued by the science and philosophy of osteopathy, including the accessibility and effectiveness of treatment. Colleen earned her four-year degree as an osteopathic manual practitioner at The Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, Ontario.

While not at work, Colleen enjoys paddling, painting, and always has a book on the go.
